Julep Angela Review

Hello everyone! It feels wonderful to join all of you on yet another post to kick off the new year. Today I wanted to share a unique polish that I had in my rotation for a few months now after picking it up from my local Marshall’s department store. Julep’s Angela shade is a gorgeous blue/teal based polish drizzled with flecks of green. It’s duo chrome finish lends for a rather dynamic look when it catches the light. It shifts between blue/teal, to green, and even to a purple at just the right angles. It applied beautifully with two thin coats and was a joy to work with as it glided with ease. I applied it over my Sally Hansen Hard as Nails base coat and did not apply a top coat to see the longevity and shine. I will say this polish does a have a fantastic shine and metallic finish. I haven’t had chips thus far in the few days I’e worn which is great considering I have been a busy bee lately! …

Transitioning to Fall Shades

Hello everyone! I am thrilled to be back with yet another post! Before sharing today’s post, I wanted to apologize for the sudden disappearance. I was quite ill for what felt like an eternity, but thankfully that has dissipated and I am delighted to create new content for all of you! Now let’s move on to today’s post. With fall in full swing and the crisp air starting to move in, fall nail polish shades are a must to bring together a cozy look. I wanted to share some of my favorites with all of you! Essie – For the Twill of It  This shade is an incredibly interesting holographic polish that applies beautifully on the nails. This multi-chrome polish shifts between teal, purple, magenta, and a deep rusty silver. I love this shade for fall as it is different take on the classic, low key autumnal polish. It maintains a discreet appeal while still being eye catching. Note: due to it’s metallic finish it can leave a streaky appearance so apply carefully. OPI – The Spy Who …

Makeup Tutorial – Garden Fairy Halloween Look

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a marvelous day. Today I am sharing yet another Halloween look inspired by garden fairies!  I love the bright colors paired with the luminous glow of the skin creating a soft, flirty look. To see how to get the look then continue below! Step 1: After appling your usual foundation and concealer, place a small piece of tape on the outer portion of the eye to create a crisp line later. Then blend a white creamy base all over your lid to prevent the eyeshadow from creasing as well as creating more vibrant pigmentation. Here I used NYX’s Jumbo Pencil in Milk.  Step 2: Apply a richly pigmented lime green shade over the entire eyelid extending it in a cat eye shape. Pack on the color so that full vibrancy is reached. I used the NYX’s Primal Colors shadow in Hot Green.  Step 3: Next I took a mix of a lavender and blue shades to soften the edges of the green and add dimension to the look. I also …

Makeup Tutorial – Geisha Inspired Halloween Look

Hello everyone! I hope your day has been lovely. I am absolutely thrilled to share my rendition of a geisha look for Halloween. There is something so alluring yet delicate in their appearance and decided to add my own modern touch to the look for Halloween. Let’s begin! Makeup Used: Lorac Pro Palette, Lorac Pro Primer,  L’Oreal Dream Lumi Foundation, Benefit Erase Paste, Wet n’ Wild Reserve Your Cabana, NYC Blush in  Darling Donner, NYX Blush in Mocha, Stila The Natural Palette, NYX Primal Colors in Hot Pink, Wet n’ Wild Palette in Greed Gourmandise, Mary Kay Eyeshadow Duo in Mirage, Revlon Single Shade in Pink Innocence, Covergirl Clump Crusher, No. 7 Blush in Natural Honey, Rimmel Lipstick in Alarm, NYX Retractable Lip liner in Nude Step 1: Apply your foundation and concealer liberally over your entire face and neck. Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Vs. Double Duty Review

Hello everyone! I am thrilled to share a new post with all of you today. I wanted to compare Sally Hansen’s Double Duty polish to the Hard as Nails varnish and discuss my overall thoughts on which I prefer of the two. Let’s begin! Double Duty “All-in-one patented strengthening base and top coat works double time…for double protection.  As a base coat, Double Duty moisturizes and hydrates nails with Panthenol.  As a top coat, Double Duty protects with Nylon.”  – Sally Hansen I have spent the last few months using this top and bottom coat polish and have rather mixed feelings about it’s performance. I did find it to leave a lustrous finish on the nails and reduced the amount of chipping as well as a quick dry time, but the peeling of my nails was rather alarming. The clear coat itself would easily lift around the edges and peel which I felt did not add to the overall health of my nails. I also note no additional strengthening or moisturizing from this polish. Instead of …

Makeup Tutorial – Golden Autumn

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share a fall makeup look inspired by the warm gold and red hues in the leaves. I feel this look would work wonderfully for an evening out or for a daytime event if you are feeling daring. Let’s begin! Makeup Used: Lorac Pro Palette, Stila “The Natural” Palette, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Cashmere, No.7 Natural Blush in Honey, NYC Liquid Eyeliner, Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk, and Kate Moss for Rimmel Lipstink in 09, L’Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation, and Benefit’s Erase Paste I am starting with my foundation and concealer already applied to my skin.  I have also done my eyebrows mixing the brown, black, and taupe shade from the Lorac Pro Palette.  Step 1: Apply the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk all over the eyelid using a flat synthetic brush. This will help the later eyeshadows last longer since it created a sticky base for them to adhere to. Make sure to blend evenly. Step 2: Next take a warm taupe shade and …

Nails – Masglo’s Caprichosa Review

Hello everyone! I hope you are wonderful today. Finally I am announcing the Summertime Hues Polish Poll winner: Masglo’s Caprichosa! This shade is an electric coral with  a warm pink undertone. It is the perfect color for those of you still holding on to the ends of summer. I feel it would complement all skin tones wonderfully. Here I applied two generous coats of the polish over my Sally Hansen Double Duty Base and Top Coat (I also added a coat of this on top for additional shine and longevity). The application was relatively opaque with minor streaking that was corrected with the second coat. The lasting power in terms of chipping I would say is comparable to that of an Essie or OPI polish. Overall, this is a wonderful shade! It is a sumptuous and lively polish for these warm summer days . Unfortunately, the only drawback is the availability. They are sold in Colombia, but if you are traveling make sure to grab this shade! Until next time. Take care!  Alice…xoxo Miss Alice Beauty on: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Bloglovin’

Summer Sunshine Essentials

Hello everyone! I am thrilled to be back with all of you today. Today’s post revolves around summer essentials to beat the heat while looking put together. Lets begin! 1. Makeup and Nail Essentials During the summer heat I do not wear a full face of makeup since it feels like it will just drip off at any moment. My go-to face product is my No. 7 Soft and Sheer Tinted Moisturizer in medium with SPF 15. I have severely dry and sensitive skin so tinted moisturizers are the best route for me. If you have oily/combo skin then I would consider a lightweight powder option to keep shine under control. This particular tinted moisturizer has light coverage so it allows my natural flush to come through meaning I don’t need any blush when using this product which is a definite plus to keep products to a minimum! Glowing skin during the summer is a must. I particularly like to use the Wet n’ Wild Coloricon Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana. This product is a bit …

Julep Color Inspiration Contest – A Pretty Day in Pink

My morning comes around as the sunrise slowly chases the moon away unveiling soft golden hues sprinkled with dashes of warm rose and orange. The flowers outside my window illuminate and burst back into life and color.  The day begins in shades of pink… My day’s preparation begins with adding pink touches to my makeup. There is such a beautiful balance between pairing shades of pink together for a look. The soft hues add a delicate glow to the skin and highlight your features without distorting. Pink has such a powerful ability to be refined yet playful. My favorite way to add pink in my beauty routine is through blushes, lipsticks, and nail polishes! A morning is never quite complete without a warm cup of coffee or tea; the soft aroma cradling the room inviting you to sit and enjoy its presence and taste.  I love a blend between coffee and milk while admiring the spring blossoms outside. Taking a moment out of your day to appreciate on the beauty that surrounds you is truly a wonderful experience. While taking a stroll …
