Bon Ballet Diary – September 26,2016

It recently occurred to me that I have now been doing ballet for over a month! One.Whole.Month. Of challenges, pure enjoyment, and self discovery. I can remember how nervous I was to go into class not knowing anything at all and being the only adult among younger students with more years of experience. I found myself nearly not going because I felt like I would be ridiculed and looked down upon by not only the kids, but the ballet moms (and dads)! Remember to tell yourself that the other students are not there to focus on you, but on their own development as much as you will be. The studio should foster a positive environment where discipline, fun, and productive criticisms are welcome. After the first day I felt at ease. I found that the group I’m surrounded by truly are incredibly encouraging even if I had two left feet that day. Now let’s dive into some exciting growth I’ve had most recently! During my most recent class we were working on our degages. I, …

Bon Ballet Diary – September 8th, 2016

I wanted to add something new to Miss Alice Beauty and share a bit about a new challenge I have undertaken! The “Bon Ballet Diary” will be a weekly installment of the challenges, obstacles, and rewards of starting ballet at twenty-something with no prior experience. I embarked on this journey despite the fact that I am in a class of hyper fourteen year olds and against all gravitational odds that make me feel less than graceful. Thus far I have had four classes of which I have been cramming more vocabulary then an elementary school class. Tendus, arabesques, releves, and more that I can’t even remember! As far as feeling sore…let’s just say getting out of bed has never felt more awful yet rewarding. I am beyond excited to learn and grow more. I have taken it upon myself to work on flexibility and strengthening from home. Here are a few of my favorites from the last few gym visits: Ballet Beautiful: Lean Legs  and Butt Shaper with Mary Helen Bowers Flexibility Stretches with Psyche Truth …

Spicing up simplicity using color to add a summer touch. Accessories, such as a vibrant clutch, are truly the best transitional items to have to move an outfit throughout the seasons, don’t you agree? – outfit – Walter Baker Off Shoulder Blouse (here) | Cupcakes and Cashmere Avalon Flare Pant (also love these) | Kate Spade Oak Island Clutch | J. Accents

Hello everyone! I hope all of you are having a lovely day. I apologize for my delay in posting. I recently made a career change and have been settling into my new role. I absolutely have not forgotten about all of you and have been planning new projects to share in the near future! Today I wanted to talk about accents, well, specifically earrings. I am the type of girl that leaving the house with no earrings on is equivalent to the world ending. I never feel complete without the right pair to accent my look. I recently picked up a few pairs of Kate Spade earrings that offer versatility while injecting a playful, feminine touch to any look. I love using studs on days where I want to achieve a more simplistic look or want the earrings to simply complement a more bold choice of necklace. I enjoy using a hanging variety for when my hair is up. It frames the face and draws the eye down the neck creating a more streamlined silhouette. I …

Dear Valentine

Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing wonderfully today! Valentine’s day is all about delicate fabrics, soft hues, and romantic accessories while not freezing to death! It is all about layers when creating a look. Here I paired a lightweight trench that combats the cool breeze and tights that maintain the leg line while conserving warmth. At the end of the day, the most important aspect is dressing yourself in a manner that feels comfortable, appropriate, and confident. To me everyday is like a mini Valentine’s Day; one day shouldn’t be the only time to express how much my significant other means to me. Enjoy and have a beautiful day! -Outfit- Banana Republic Trench | Cynthia Rowling Silk Blouse | Express Skirt | Nine West Heels | Kate Spade Handbag Until next time. Take care!

Golden Afternoon

Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing well today! Golden hues, tousled curls, and long walks sum up this tranquil afternoon. I wanted to wear something as carefree as my soundings so I opted for a lightweight shift dress and sandals. Simplicity is key for me especially when it comes to a day outside by the beach or going for a walk. I don’t usually fuss with makeup or with my hair; I let the breeze be my stylist. My only concern is chasing daylight. -Outfit- Old Navy Dress | Report Sandals Until next time. Take care!

A Warm Winter

Hello everyone! I hope you are absolutely wonderful today. As I write this, there is actually a cold front tip toeing into Florida so it may not be so warm after all! Overall, this winter has certainly been toasty making it a challenge to feel like the season without baking in the sun. Textures. Textures play an important role when attempting to piece together a fall/winter outfit when it feels like the middle of summer. The felt hat and the deep leather in the heeled oxfords add a cozy feel to the overall outfit. I love throwing on a pair of tights on those “not so hot I’m going to melt” days since they elongate the legs and are definitely fitting for this time of year! On a side note my birthday is around the corner! It seems unreal that it’s creeping up again. It has been quite the year filled with so many changes, challenges, and thrilling moments! I am appreciative for another year and to continue growing with all of you! – Outfit details …
