OOTD – Comfortably Glam for New Years

Hello everyone! I can’t believe this will be my final post till the new year. Time has flown unbelievably fast! I am thrilled to begin a new years filled with new ideas, outfits, and reviews! I am also planning on incorporating more makeup looks into my blog. Let me know what you think! On to the outfit post! Today’s pairing focused on merging both comfort and glamour. Many looks for new year incorporate a significant amount of glitter, metallic fabrics, and sequin tops, but personally I prefer a more subdued look with a tiny pop of one of those characteristics. In this case, I decided to focus on the glitter heels as my touch of sparkle for new years. The soft shine and glow adds a festive feel to the outfit without being overbearing. I paired together a tulle skirt and a curved front, cropped sweater. The cut of the top highlights the skirt and adds balance as well as warmth to the outfit. I also find that tulle is amazing for festive occasions. It is …

OOTD – Dreaming of a Velvet Christmas

Hello everyone! Merry Christmas! I am thrilled to have spent these last few months with you on my blogging journey. The greatest gift has been your support! I hope you enjoy your holiday filled with family, food, fun, and gifts! Now on to my holiday outfit for those of you having a family dinner or Christmas party. Today’s pairing revolves around the rich burgundy velvet skirt. The texture and color truly embodies the warmth of Christmas. To keep the skirt center stage, I added black tights and shoes to keep the bottom half muted. The upper half continues the black theme, but also adds white to brighten up the look without distracting from the skirt. The clutch ties the color in while adding a touch of glamour. This outfit was topped off with a Christmas present bow pin that adds an understated touch of Christmas to the outfit without being overwhelming or appearing childish. As for makeup, I decided to do a soft burgundy smokey eye to capture the color of the skirt using my …

OOTD – A Cozy Holiday in Leopard Print

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day! Today’s pairing is a cozy take on a spunky holiday look. There is something about leopard print and rich jewel toned colors that pair together beautifully. The leopard print skirt is strong statement piece in this outfit so I wanted to keep it as the focal point using primarily solid blocks of color. The sweater adds a cozy element to the outfit which is perfect for a chilly Christmas evening. I adore the curved front and crop of the sweater. The higher cut hits above the starting point of the skirt flare which aids in highlighting the silhouette of the outfit. The curved front draws emphasis to the belt which allows for the waist to be defined. Due to the rich colors and pattern of the top, I decided to keep the bottom and bag a solid black to keep the rest muted. Well, enough about the outfit! I’m heading home today via train actually. It’ll be my first time traveling by train so wish …

Ten Holiday Questions Survey!

Hello everyone! I came across this fun little survey and decided to share it with all of you. I’m officially tagging all of you. I can’t wait to see your responses! 1. Do you hang mistletoe? I don’t have mistletoe, but I think it would be cute idea. I may go out and get one for this year! 2. When do you hang your decorations up? After Thanksgiving is usually when my family and I put up decorations. We prefer to enjoy one holiday at a time! 3. Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve? My family and I do celebrate Christmas on the 24th with the big dinner and gathering. At midnight we open out gifts and use the 25th to enjoy our goodies! 4. Real tree or fake tree? For the past few years, my family has been purchasing real trees as opposed to using a fake and I certainly love real far more! 5. What tops your tree? A star. 6. What is on your Christmas wishlist this year? A camera that is a step up from my old point-and-shoot that I’m …

Revlon’s Black Cherry Super Lustrous Lipstick Review

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well! I apologize for the recent disappearance. I have been home preparing for Thanksgiving with my family and enjoying my small break. I have been searching for the perfect “vampy” lip color for the fall and winter season; I came across Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipstick in Black Cherry and I will be sharing my opinion on the product. The lipstick can be purchased at your local drugstore for  $5.00 and is part of their permanent collection. You can purchase the lipstick here as well. Pros: The color glides on smoothly. Has the ability to be worn sheer or opaque depending on your preference. A wine color that is perfect for the holiday and fall/winter seasons. The affordable price makes it readily available for all budget ranges. Packaging is lightweight, simple, and classically designed. Cons: The lipstick lacks the amount of pigment I was expecting. It has a nice color, but it pales it comparison to what I thought when I looked at the lipstick bullet. I feel this lipstick is …

OOTD – Spice Up Thanksgiving with a Dash of Leopard Print

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day. I was finally able to enjoy a beautiful afternoon after what seemed like an endless amount of gray skies, rain, and wind. Today’s outfit is geared toward styling a casual yet pulled together look for Thanksgiving. Here I paired a cream 3/4 length sleeve button down with dark wash jeans. Why I love this blouse for the holidays is that since it has a loose fit it allows for movement and leaves a bit of extra room to eat delicious Thanksgiving food (I’m especially thrilled for apple pie, yum!). The focal point of the outfit is the light, chiffon scarf. It has a combination of prints and colors making it an eye catching statement piece against a simple blouse. Since the scarf has leopard print rimming the peach floral design, I decided to play with a leopard print shoe and bag to keep the theme going through out the rest of the outfit. To top it off I added my Revlon lipstick in Black Cherry …

Costume Winner – Flapper Girl!

Happy Saturday! I hope you’re having a lovely day! Here is the winning costume reveal! The majority went to the flapper girl! I threw together the entire costume spending simply $5 on the thrifted dress. The rest of the items were some accessories I already owned. It was a challenge to find a dress silhouette that matched the garments of that era.  The dresses in the 20’s had generally a drop waist along with frills and such. The dress above, though not perfect, I felt captured the overall look.  The beaded band hugging the waist really brought the glamour of the 20’s into this dress. As for the hair, I simply gathered it at the base of my neck and clipped it in place.  The bow headpiece is a headband placed across my forehead. The makeup is done using my Lorac Pro Palette and the lipstick is Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Lipstick in 170 Alarm. Until next time. Take care!
